A mixed experience overall. For this style of restaurant and the price point, I expected something truly memorable, but it didnโ€™t quite deliver that โ€œwowโ€ factor for us. We had an 8:30pm booking and waited around an hour for the first course. The full degustation ran a little over three and a half hours, and unfortunately the chairs were quite uncomfortable for that length of time (limited padding and back support), which took away from the enjoyment. The staff were individually lovely, and I understand everyone can have small slip-ups, but the service felt a bit inconsistent โ€” we were looked after by multiple waiters rather than having one person guide us through the evening. Food-wise, some dishes were excellent and others were just okay. Given the build-up around the steak, it didnโ€™t feel particularly special, and a few plates felt a little unfinished โ€” more like partially developed ideas than fully refined dishes. Presentation was okay. Desserts had a lot going on and felt a bit overcomplicated. That said, the scallops and the Noosa cod were fantastic, with some really nice touches. We did the five-course set, but it worked out to around 15 smaller plates overall, which was good value.

NOT FOR VEGETARIANS! For many years a vegetarian meal at a friendโ€™s place, or in a foreign country meant boiled vegetables with salt and pepper. 2 days ago Dan Arnold forgot the salt in some places and over-salted in others. In my many years of visiting degustation restaurants I have never been so disappointed in a meal or have left SO HUNGRY. I was promised that despite the restaurantโ€™s inability to accommodate the โ€œCarte blancheโ€ menu (despite having booked weeks ago and sent 2 notes to the restaurant about it) that I would at least go home full. Iโ€™m sorry โ€“ a single leaf of seasoned LETTUCE and a grilled zucchini are NOT MAINS. It felt insulting and a little personal to be served lettuce as a vegetarian. It was a message that I wasnโ€™t welcome there and that I should not return for fear or being served grass if were to frequent again. I mean โ€“ some carbohydrate would be great โ€“ pasta, rice, pastry โ€“ perhaps a blade of wheat to match the unsalted boiled squash they served me. I could refer the chefs to any of 100+ cooking shows on Netflix if they need help. Fat, protein, carbohydrate. Something worth $200 please. If not for the good wine and good company this would be 1 star. Disappointed, upset and hungry. The service was slow, they poured one of my paired wines (a red) into my previous (white) glass which I had to point out. The jacket sat on the back of the chair all night despite my asking for it to be hung. Itโ€™s a sad state of affairs to leave with a $500+ bill and find myself at midnight cooking my own dinner to quell a growling stomach. I mentioned all of this to the restaurant after the lettuce โ€œmainโ€ after which I was served a grilled zucchini salted to mouth dehydrating portions โ€“ I refused to finish those mains. Message received Dan Arnold โ€“ I apologise for visiting your restaurant. I wonder which vegetarian in your life hurt you but I hope one day you find inner-peace by forgiving them โ€“ or just make it clear that you canโ€™t cater for that dietary choice. (mains pictured - imagination to be used for the flavourless avocado entree)

Such a great Experience! Wow, nice food some of the dishes had a very close test to the Jules Verne Eiffel tower! There are 2 options 7 or 5 courses with or without marching wine. We ordered the 5-course with the matching wine they brought us 8 courses all delicious and full of taste and beautifully garnished

Every dish was delicious. Each sauce a masterclass. The most consistently good degustation experience in Brisbane (not one dish you could fault throughout). If in doubt, opt for the immersion (formerly the carte blanche). It will be worth it. Canโ€™t wait to return - thank you for taking very good care of us on my birthday.
